The managing director of the Indian National Stock Exchange has called for greater cooperation among exchanges to coordinate efforts, such as bans on short selling, The Financial Times reports.

“In the context of such dramatic events as the unfolding credit crisis, it would be helpful if markets talk to each other before taking action in such areas as banning short selling – in the manner undertaken by banking and monetary authorities in recent weeks,” Narain told The Financial Times.
