The Telegraph is reporting that US private equity firm, Carlyle Group, is planning to float a USD1 billion (510m) fund in Europe. It would be primarily investing in bank loans, mortgage portfolios and other fixed income securities.

It has been speculated that they have raised USD500 million so far. They are thought to be looking to raise a further USD600 million through a stock market flotation.
