Hedge fund managers Campbell & Company have appointed Craig Weynand Vice President and future General Counsel. He starts work on Monday, 13 October.

Weynand will assist the executive team with the overall growth and development of the firm, with a focus on legal issues, regulatory oversight and compliance, and the development of new product offerings, according to Bruce Cleland, President and CEO, who made the announcement.

Weynand joins Campbell & Company following thirteen years with Morgan Stanley in New York where he was Vice President – Director of Product Origination and Analysis in their Managed Futures division. In that capacity, Weynand was involved in the development of managed futures products, CTA selection, ongoing due diligence, daily trade monitoring and risk management. His responsibilities also included oversight of the internal trading manager’s allocations, strategic planning for technology and the division’s risk management and asset/liability management. He also chaired the Investment Management Committee, a senior level advisory group responsible for guiding, evaluating and overseeing the division’s asset allocation decisions.

Previously, Weynand was an Assistant Vice President – Senior Trader for Morgan Stanley’s internal CTA, during which time he managed several technically-based trading portfolios and the global trading desk.

“We wanted to beef up the administrative backbone of our firm with some strong legal and administrative expertise to help manage our continuing growth,” says Terri Becks, Campbell & Company’s Chief Financial Officer. “Craig more than fits the bill for achieving this goal, and we are delighted to have him join our team.”

Weynand holds a B.S. in International Business and Marketing and an M.B.A. from New York University, and a J.D. from Fordham University – School of Law. Weynand is also a member of the Government Relations Committee of the Managed Funds Association.
