Barty Smith decided 15,420 feet up Mount Kilimanjaro was as good a time as any to relinquish his role of chairman of commercial banking software provider Coexis Limited.

Replacing Smith at the reigns of the company is Terry Williams, who relinquished his role as chief executive officer to become chairman as the company establishes a presence in the USA and looks to expand into the Far East. Sunil Shah, formerly chief operating officer was appointed chief executive officer. Other board members remain the same.

The obvious question of course is what was Smith during on Mount Kilimanjaro? According to Coexis, the firm decided to have their latest board meeting there was participating in a sponsored Mount Kilimanjaro trek to raise money for deaf blind charity Sense International. Apparently Machu Picchu would have been too pass.
