Shares in Merrill Lynch & Co. were up yesterday following a report in the Boersen-Zeitung newspaper in Germany that UBS may buy the company. UBS denied the report.
Merrill has been the subject of speculation about its future for some time. The company is presently capitalised at over $30 billion.
