SunGard Corbel, an operating unit of SunGard, has announced the release of an Application Service Provider (ASP) version of its Relius Administration recordkeeping system.

With the ASP version, SunGard Corbel hosts the “server” hardware and technology infrastructure including the database server, the Participant and Plan Sponsor Web servers and the Voice Response (VRU) servers at its data center facility in Jacksonville, FL. The ASP version requires only a PC, a printer and a high-speed dedicated Internet connection to securely access the ASP. It lessens technology overhead and expense, and eliminates hardware maintenance and IT infrastructure requirements such as maintaining backup systems, data backups, offsite storage and disaster recovery plans. The disaster recovery services are provided by SunGard Availability Services.

The system runs 24/7 (less scheduled maintenance times) eliminating the downtime for equipment and software upgrades. Each client database is segregated for maximum security and there is no limit to the number of plans or lives that can be maintained.

“With many firms looking to decrease their output for hardware and IT labor costs, this ASP option is an important and beneficial addition to the Relius Administration recordkeeping system, offering firms another way to stay competitive,” said Don Mackanos, president of SunGard Corbel. “The ASP is a great alternative service for new clients and for those existing clients who would prefer to eliminate the ongoing maintenance of the technology infrastructure and the worry of maintaining a disaster recovery system.”
