State Street Global Advisors is sponsoring the MIT Sloan School of Management’s Laboratory for Financial Engineering (LFE).
As part of its sponsorship, SSGA will support research in financial engineering and next-generation investment models. This research includes new areas such as developing natural-language programs that can rapidly and efficiently scan databases and documents (such as analyst and annual reports) to identify and analyze key financial information about companies. This practice may help investment managers more quickly pinpoint attractive investment opportunities.

The LFE is a research center that pairs academia with industry to support and promote quantitative research in financial engineering and computational finance. The center aims to promote and develop better ways to teach executives and students applications of financial technology in a corporate setting.
