The Securities & Investment Institute (SII) has appointed Christopher Bond as its Adviser on Compliance.

Bond has been a Solicitor with City law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse for the past 27 years, retiring as a senior equity partner on 31 March 2005. He has specialist knowledge in financial services regulation and compliance, his practice having focused on this area in recent years. He was General Counsel and Assistant Company Secretary of Reuters from 1972 to 1976.

Bond is already a member of the Securities & Investment Institute, Associate member of the Compliance Institute and member of the Institute of Money Laundering Prevention Organisation. Since 2002 he has also been Legal Adviser to the Securities & Investment Institute and has spoken at many of the Institute’s CPD events.

His role at the Securities & Investment Institute will be to advise on changes to Compliance and Regulation Law and to review the Institute’s Qualifications syllabus to reflect Compliance and Regulatory changes.

“We are very honoured to have Christopher working with us. He joins the Institute at a time when the focus on compliance in the industry is greater than ever,” says Ruth Martin, Managing Director of the Securities & Investment Institute. “Christopher’s expertise will help to give us the edge required to keep a step ahead of any fundamental changes in the area of compliance and regulation law.”
