OneChicago, LLC reportedly reached a new open interest record Tuesday of 1,392,128 contracts, topping the previous record of 1,335,410 reached Aug. 18, 2005.
In addition, exchange volume is already twice the 1.9 million traded in 2004, surpassing four million contracts yesterday.
“The fourth quarter is off to a strong start, with our October volume already triple that of the October 2004 total,” OneChicago president Marty Doyle said. “This follows an average daily volume record of 28,090 contracts traded in the third quarter. Traders are continuing to discover the benefits of security futures in meeting their portfolio management needs.”
