OneChicago Enjoys Record Turnover

OneChicago says it traded 243,198 contracts on Tuesday, approximately doubling the previous Exchange-wide daily volume record of 123,600 contracts traded on 10 September.

The top five security futures products by volume were Honeywell International Inc. (HON1C) with 13,293 contracts traded, PeopleSoft Inc. (PSFT1C) 8,578, Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM1C) 9,411, Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB1C) 8,276, Proctor & Gamble Co. (PG1C) 8,228 and Coca-Cola Co. (KO1C) 7,866. Twenty-two different OneChicago products traded more than 5,000 contracts.

OneChicago also topped the 1.5 million contract mark in cumulative volume since the Exchanges launch on 8 November last year. As of Tuesday, a total of 1,719,417 contracts had traded at OneChicago, representing 171 million shares of common stock. Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying security. Open interest at OneChicago reached 236,436 contracts on Tuesday, also an Exchange record. The Exchange offers a total of 109 security futures products: 94 single stock futures, including futures on the DIAMONDS Trust, and 15 futures on the Dow Jones MicroSector Indexes SM. OneChicago is a joint venture of the Chicago Board Options Exchange Incorporated (CBOE), Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). All products are electronically traded on the CBOEdirect match engine and accessible through the CBOEdirect and GLOBEX platforms. All security futures can be traded out of either a securities or a futures account.
