Omgeo has taken on Matthew Nelson as director, market intelligence and Fritz McCormick as data business director.
The move follows the June 2007 appointment of Tim Lind, managing director, strategic planning and it is hoped that the new appointments will strengthen Omgeo’s ability to research new markets for geographic expansion and broaden its product portfolio.
Nelson will be tasked with developing metrics-driven market data that identifies and supports Omgeo’s current and future opportunities. Nelson is based in Boston and will report directly to Tim Lind, managing director, strategic planning and a member of Omgeo’s executive team.
“Strengthening Omgeo’s research capabilities and a better understanding of the future dynamics of our industry is a strategic initiative we are undertaking to support our global growth. These individuals bring with them significant experience from prestigious research groups and illustrate the high calibre of talent Omgeo is seeking in order to deliver value to its end clients,” says Lind.
Prior to joining Omgeo, Nelson was a senior analyst at TowerGroup. His research spanned a variety of functions across the front, middle and back office of both traditional and hedge fund managers. Before joining TowerGroup, Nelson spent a decade in the financial services industry and held a variety of positions with Fidelity Investments, Interactive Data Corp. and Forum Financial Group.
McCormick will be responsible for the evolution of Omgeo’s data services. He will also investigate opportunities to provide Omgeo’s clients with applications that leverage this data. He will also be based in Boston and will report directly to Steve Matthews, managing director, product and a member of Omgeo’s executive team.
“We welcome the addition of these important two new hires to help Omgeo develop its product roadmap in line with evolving client requirements. As a community business, we are able to have insight into critical market data and we are excited about making this more accessible to our client base going forward,” says Steve Matthews.
McCormick previously served as vice president of Business Development & Alliances at the GoldenSource Corporation. He conducted alliance management activities, strategic research and planning, and market analysis. Before joining GoldenSource, McCormick was a senior analyst with Celent Communications, a market research and advisory firm, where he led coverage of various technologies used in the capital markets.
