OCC's Total Volume and Securities Lending Activity Down 18% in May

OCC's total cleared contract volume declined 18% year over year in May with a volume of 319,742,239 compared to 391,347,069 a year ago. Year to date, though, OCC’s total cleared contract volume is up 1% over the same period in 2013.

OCC’s total cleared contract volume declined 18% year over year in May with a volume of 319,742,239 compared to 391,347,069 a year ago. Year to date, though, OCC’s total cleared contract volume is up 1% over the same period in 2013, and its to year-to-date average daily contract volume is up 2% at 17,369,702 contracts.

Securities lending activity fell 18% in new loans compared to the prior year, with 99,782 transactions in May 2014. Year-to-date stock loan activity is down 8% from 2013 with 485,722 new loan transactions in 2014. The average daily loan value at OCC in May was $117,951,459,426.

Exchange-listed options trading volume also fell 18% year over year, with 315,630,235 contracts in May 2014. Average daily options trading volume is up 2% in 2014 over the same period last year, and year-to-date total options volume is up 1% with 1,761,732,803 contracts traded in 2014.

Lastly, futures cleared by OCC declined 16% year over year in May with 4,112,004 contracts. OCC’s average daily cleared futures volume in 2014 is up 18% still with 265,500 contracts, and year-to-date total cleared futures volume is up 16% with 27,346,548 contracts in 2014.
