Charles River Development, a leading provider of financial software and services to the global investment management community, says that Nissay Asset Management Corporation (NAM) has selected the Charles River Investment Management System (Charles River IMS) to monitor and support its fund management operations. NAM is one of Japan’s leading asset managers with seven trillion Japanese Yen under management and is a subsidiary of Nippon Life Insurance Company, the largest life insurance company in Japan.

Charles River IMS is a comprehensive front- and middle-office software suite for portfolio management and modelling (Charles River Manager), order management and electronic trading (Charles River Trader), real-time compliance monitoring (Charles River Compliance), and the centralised management of trade matching, confirmation and settlement workflow (Charles River Post-Trade).

NAM will implement the Charles River IMS across all asset classes to streamline its fund management operations onto one integrated platform.

“Charles River IMS enables us to trade in a wider variety of products globally owing to its multi-asset trading capabilities while providing us with the flexibility and scalability to adapt to changing business needs,” says Mr. Nobuaki Sakai, Director, NAM. “The Japanese market has distinctive legal and compliance requirements and we were impressed with the system’s ability to handle these unique compliance rules. Now we use Charles River IMS for every stage of the trade process from portfolio analysis, order creation to trade execution. The system is now core to our entire asset management operation.”

“The success of the NAM project further establishes our capabilities in Asia Pacific,” says Cameron Field, Managing Director, Charles River Development Asia Pacific. “The NAM deal proves again that Charles River is a flexible and scalable solution able to adapt to diverse markets and particularly changing conditions in the Japanese market.”
