The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) has issued $1.1 billion in guarantees in fiscal year 2004.

These guarantees covered 35 new projects, which is slightly down from 37 in fiscal year 2003. MIGA’s portfolio continued to show a marked shift toward areas such as supporting investments in the world’s poorest countries. In fiscal year 2004, projects in countries eligible for assistance from the World Bank Group’s International Development Association (IDA) represented 57 percent of the agency’s new business.
