Merrill Lynch has hired Bernie Sucher as a managing director and head of Global Markets for Russia. Sucher will have responsibility for building out the firm’s local Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities as well as Equity sales and trading operations and will report to Samir Atassi, head of Global Markets, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) Emerging Markets Group.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Sucher was chairman of Alfa Capital. Previously, he was a managing director and co-founder of Troika Dialog, one of the largest independent brokerage houses in Russia.
“An appointment of this calibre reaffirms Merrill Lynch’s commitment to Russia, an area of key strategic focus for us,” says Atassi. “Bernie’s extensive 14 years’ experience working within the Russian capital markets will be invaluable to us in strengthening our franchise in the region.”
