Reuters is reporting that millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money is being wasted by family breakdown cases being taken through the courts instead of entering mediation.
The National Audit Office (NAO) said a third of people who had been through a family breakdown had not been made aware that mediation was an option for them, despite it being the duty of their solicitor to tell them so.
42 percent of people said that it would have interested them which might have saved 10 million worth of taxpayers money.
