Lipper Inc., the mutual fund research firm and subsidiary of Reuters, has made several research appointments to develop new research areas, such as hedge fund and multi-asset research.

This comes after the appointment of Gabriel Burstein, an ex-HSBC, Daiwa, and Goldman Sachs global macro, multi-asset, and hedge fund investment strategist, as Lipper’s Global Head of Research. Senior appointments will be reporting directly to Burstein.

Andrew Clark has been appointed Head of Research for Lipper Americas. Previously, Clark served as Senior Research Analyst working on quantitative analysis and Lipper Leaders, Lipper’s investor-centered ratings system for mutual funds.

Hank Turowski and Heesuk Jang have been appointed Quantitative and Methodology Research Analysts. Mark Labovitz has been appointed Research and Development Analyst. All positions will be located in Denver, CO and will report to Clark.

Nathaniel Chua has been appointed Senior Research Analyst in Singapore reporting to Head of Asia Research, Kenneth Koh. Aureliano Gentilini has been appointed Global Head of Hedge Fund Research based in Rome.

Ferenc Sanderson, from Lipper Hedgeworld, an ex-Daiwa alternative investment research analyst and specialist in Japan, has been appointed Senior Research Analyst in New York, providing hedge fund research as well as mutual fund analysis.

Marc Gerstein and Ashwani Kaul have been appointed Multi-Asset Research Analysts in New York to help develop a new multi-asset research product, both fundamentally as well as top down macro, based on Reuters Company and Economic Data. Gerstein was previously Director of Investment Research for Multex and Kaul was Senior Market Analytics Research and Attribution Analyst for Reuters Estimates.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues,” says Burstein. “Lipper has access to a treasure trove of fund data, and we shall be working closely with our clients to provide them with exclusive and distinctive research on mutual fund, hedge fund, and multi-asset levels tailored specifically for their needs.”
