The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has launched its data quality management programme in a bid to enhance the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) data pool.

The LEI data pool is a global directory aiming to improve transparency in financial markets.

As the overseeing body for the LEI, the GLEIF programme will continuously monitor and assess the data pool in order to maintain the level of quality.

As part of the programme the GLEIF has developed a measurable criteria in partnership with the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). This criteria will measure the completeness, comprehensiveness and integrity of LEI’s data and will be revealed in monthly reports published by the quality management programme.

In its first report, (published on 31 January) the LEI total data quality score stood at 99%.

“The introduction of the GLEIF data quality management program ensures that the LEI remains the industry standard best suited to providing open and reliable data for unique identification management,” said GLEIF CEO, Stephan Wolf.

“Going forward, the GLEIF data quality management program will continue to evolve by gradually implementing previously defined quality criteria and corresponding controls.”
