Nick Kershaw has been appointed Managing Partner of the Jersey legal practice of Ogier.

Kershaw is one of the best known investment funds lawyers in Jersey. As Chairman of the Legal Sub-Committee of the Jersey Funds Association, he was instrumental in the introduction of the much-admired Jersey Expert Fund regime.

Kershaw has been a partner at Ogier for ten years, having joined from Clifford Chance in London. Over the last five years he has been a member of the Group Executive Board and the Group Strategy Board.

Nick Kershaw succeeds Sarah Fitz, who has been managing partner since 2000.

“The partnership is extremely grateful to Sarah for her leadership,” says Ogier Group Chairman Jonathan White. “Over Sarah’s maximum term of office Ogier has experienced considerable expansion, both in Jersey and around the offshore world. Nick is the unanimous choice of the partnership to take up this important management role. He is the ideal person to ensure that the direction agreed upon by the partners is delivered to ensure a strong future for Ogier’s staff and its clients.”

Kershaw himself notes that he is taking over at a good time, with Ogier securing the highest overall rating of any law firm in Jersey by the Legal 500 for the third successive year and being named Global Offshore Law Firm of the Year by Chambers. “I am looking forward to continuing to drive the success of the firm,” he says.
