ICICI OneSource, an Indian Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, is to open outsourcing centers in Northern Ireland, creating around 1,000 jobs over the next two years.

ICICI OneSource has received assistance from Invest Northern Ireland, to support the opening of the company’s first outsourcing centre in Belfast in July, with a second centre in the north west of Northern Ireland planned later this year.

“We are delighted to be in Northern Ireland and value the support and encouragement we have received from Invest Northern Ireland,” says Ananda Mukerji, MD & CEO said. “We see tremendous opportunities in providing the UK’s leading companies with world-class business process management services and will be looking to grow our business rapidly in the coming years. Northern Ireland has a proven track record in providing a large pool of talented people and an extremely conducive business environment and we intend to leverage this to global advantage.”

Making the announcement, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Peter Hain said the investment “illustrated the international confidence in, and the high growth potential of, Northern Ireland’s contact centre sector. As the second greenfield investment to be made here by an Indian company, it clearly reinforces Northern Ireland as the most competitive near shore option for companies seeking a base to service western European markets.”

ICICI OneSource says that, having seen its expertise in India, organisations are now asking them to use that capability to manage outsourced services in the UK.

Matthew Vallance, Managing Director, Europe, of ICICI OneSource says the first outsourcing centre in the UK is a major new development for the company. “Our expanded operations will give us greater capacity for both new and existing clients and we expect to see growing demand for our services,” he says. “We have already had interest from several companies for our Northern Ireland based outsourcing services and expect to announce the next phase of our expansion in the region in the next few months.”

ICICI OneSource, which is currently recruiting for its Belfast operation, specialises in the Banking, Financial Services, Telecommunications, Media and Healthcare sectors. The company currently employs over 8,000 employees across 10 centers in the US and India.
