Global Custodian is pleased to announce that it will be honouring Yawar Shah, managing director, franchise risk and strategy, Citi, and chairman of the SWIFT Board, with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be presented at the Global Custodian Annual Awards Dinner at the Savoy Hotel in London on 17 March, 2015.

Shah has been a SWIFT director since 1995 and chairman of the Board of SWIFT since 2006. For the past decade, he has helped steer the organisation through several economic, political and technological challenges arising from its status as the world’s only global bank-owned member-driven cooperative.

Since earning his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Magna cum Laude Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, Shah has served in a number of senior executive positions in financial services, including 20 years at J.P. Morgan, where, among other roles, he was global operations executive for the bank’s worldwide securities services business.

“Yawar Shah has worked consistently to promote the value of shared services to the securities industry as a whole,” says Jon Watkins, editor, Global Custodian. “While holding senior roles in highly competitive financial institutions, he has never lost sight of the benefits of industry cooperation.”

Past recipients of the award have included, among others, Jill Considine, Diana Chan, Kurt Woetzel and Roy Zimmerhansl.
