Following a two-year incubation period that yielded 55% returns, former Financial Times columnist Alpesh Patel launched the Excalibur Fund, a hedge fund targeting 20-25% returns with a volatility of 20%.

The fund operates under London-based Agile Partners Asset Management, of which Patel is the CEO.

“Our gross return since inception during incubation with founders’ only capital in March 2004 reaches 55% to end January 2006,” Patel said. “Annual absolute returns and moderate volatility is our aim and we continue to achieve it. At the current average annual return compound rate, we double investor money in about four years.”

The fund is most suitable for investors looking for substantial growth over a medium period of time, and those looking to participate in the US equity markets.

The Master Fund is based off models using quantitative long/short techniques to generate trading signals.
