The once formidable securities lending group at Deutsche Bank disintegrated a little further yesterday with news that Beatrice Rodriquez had joined the Fidelity Investments Fixed Income Portfolio Management team in London as a money market manager. She used to manage cash collateral for the agency lending team at Deutsche Bank.

Rodriguez, who has worked in the fixed income markets since 1994, will report to Martin Hall, Head of Fixed Income at Fidelity International. After State Street acquired Deutsche Global Securities Services, she worked on as a Cash Lending Manager. She has also previously worked at JP Morgan Investment Management. Her experience covers all aspects of money market trading, including cash re-investment and the launch and management of a range of Offshore Money Market Funds.

Fidelity has also hired Joe Andrews to the Quantitative Research team as an analyst. Andrews will report to Jenny Toolin McAuliffe, Director of Fixed Income Research at Fidelity International. Andrews, who has more than 13 years experience in the field of Quantitative Analysis, started his career at Rolls-Royce as a member of the Numerical Methods Group within the Combustion Technology Department. In 1996 he joined JP Morgan’s Capital Markets Research Group, developing numerical methods for equity derivatives. He joins Fidelity from Bank of America where he was a member of the Quantitative Finance Group providing quantitative support to the Corporate Treasury activities.

“We are continuing to add experienced professionals to meet the increasing interest we are seeing from investors in our fixed income and money market strategies and products,” says Martin Hall. “Beatrice will work with Marc Wait, Portfolio Manager, Money Market funds to build our presence in the money market and short maturity bond arena.”

Jenny Toolin McAuliffe added that “our Quantitative Research team enhance our ability to look at the historical relationship between individual bonds and sectors as well as measuring the risk profile of individual portfolios. I am delighted that Joe has joined the team as his experience will complement and build on the existing expertise of this area of our research process.”
