Computer Sciences Corporation has been awarded a seven-year, $12 million software and information technology (IT) services contract with American Community Mutual nsurance Co., a provider of group and individual health and life insurance.

Under the agreement, American Community will use CSCs PowerSTEPP, a comprehensive health administration system, in an application service provider (ASP) environment. The company has also licensed CSCs PerformancePlus broker commission software that manages insurance sales force compensation.

American Community will use PowerSTEPP and its PowerEnrollment component to streamline enrollment, billing, claims, e-commerce transactions, operational workflow and decision support. The insurer will also implement PerformancePlus to simplify administration of its sales force compensation and incentive management plans.

“Prior to contracting with CSC, we had been outsourcing our mission-critical applications and IT infrastructure to several different vendors,” says Lynn Phillips, vice president and chief information officer at American Community. “Now, with the help of CSCs integrated software and ASP services, we can take our marketing strategy to the next level, with the ability to expand and improve our product offerings and lessen the time it takes to get them to market.”

“Health insurers are seeking to grow by providing more consumer-driven products to their members,” adds Steve Sabino, vice president of CSCs Health Plan Solutions organization. “With CSCs comprehensive software and services, American Community is positioned to provide more choices to plan members and a variety of compensation and bonus plans to its sales force.”

CSCs applications, ASP and business process outsourcing services support more than 300 healthcare clients, representing 30 million covered lives and 150 million claims annually.
