Buttonwood Tree Group, a technology consultancy, says Ian Cohen, previously COO of Barclays Capital and before that CEO of Jiway Broker Services, has joined as group director with responsibility for developing the company’s Operational Services and Business Risk Control solutions.
“In the current economic climate, most financial organisations are reviewing the operational costs of their business and considering how they can optimise their existing business assets and reduce costs without loosing any business agility,” says Cohen. “The Buttonwood Tree team are experts at reshaping an organisation so it is flexible, scalable and always well prepared for market change.”
Buttonwood Tree say they are working with several financial institutions to improve the efficiency of their business operations through effective cost management programmes. Projects include a global derivatives programme at a major European bank, market data optimisation, complex programme management, cost reduction and systems replacement initiatives.
“Buttonwood Tree Group is a fast growing and successful enterprise, using leading industry practitioners to deliver well defined and expert consultancy services,” says Nigel Walder, CEO. “The ability to attract calibre individuals like Ian is a testament to our growing reputation of delivering world-class solutions to our growing client base with pragmatism and passion that results from our deep market expertise.”
In addition to roles at Barclays Capital and Jiway Broker Services, Cohen also held senior positions at Morgan Stanley and Clearstream (formerly Cedel). He has worked as an independent consultant with Andersen Consulting, KPMG and IBM. “Buttonwood Tree has a highly motivated team of experts that I am extremely pleased to be a part of,” concludes Cohen. “Together we will support leading financial institutions and help them improve operations, achieve total cost reductions and implement effective risk control measures. My strategic experience and my ‘hands on’ approach to business will be an asset to the team and our customers.”
