Research house Emerisk has launched an index that aims to capture upside trends and buying opportunities for fund managers in emerging markets.

The company says the index marks the completion of 24 months of research into event risk in emerging markets, with beta and alpha classifications given for 144 countries.

“We see the new offering as a decision-support tool for fund managers and brokers in alternative finance, helping them gain the local view,” says Darko Bredic, Research Director at Emerisk.

“We believe this to be a unique offering for a fast-growing asset class, and a vital information resource for fund managers,” adds D’Arcy Rice, Managing Director of Emerisk. “Unlike research firms providing a static beta index, Emerisk seeks to capture alpha in markets perceived as high risk. Our aim is to offer a two-way relationship with subscribing members, feeding proprietary data on emerging issues, whilst targeting specific due diligence requests on their behalf.”
