Northern Trust says that Douglas P. Regan has been appointed head of the company’s Wealth Management Group. He replaces Steven R. Bell, who now heads Northern Trust’s Northern California region. Regan reports to William L. Morrison, President Northern Trust Personal Financial Services.

“Doug has made significant contributions to Northern Trust’s success during his career,” says Morrison. “He comes to his new assignment with excellent credentials, a deep knowledge of our clients and business, and sharp insight into our market.”

Regan, recently named an Executive Vice President, is responsible for the strategic direction of the Group which serves 352 family relationships in 15 countries. He overseas all of the group’s functions including client service, technology and business development.

“Doug has more than 21 years building relationships with affluent clients, and in his most recent assignment as head of Florida, he re-energised our business, harnessing our talented people, services and expertise to increase revenues while significantly enhancing our presence in the marketplace,” adds Rick Waddell, the President and Chief Operating Officer at Northern Trust.

Regan has returned to Chicago where he began his career with Northern Trust in 1985. Following assignments in the company’s trust departments in the Chicago area, Regan moved to Florida, progressing through the ranks in Boca Raton and Palm Beach to be named President of Palm Beach in 1999. In 2003, he assumed the position of President and CEO of Personal Financial Services, Florida.
