Deutsche Börse and its post-trade business Clearstream are to launch a FinTech Acceleration Platform as a development environment for new businesses.

The exchange group will work alongside Germany-based FinTech firm figo and Luxembourg-based RegTech startup Finologee to develop the platform, which is currently in piloting phase although expected to launch fully in the fourth quarter this year.

It will aim to allow new generation digital companies and established financial industry players to use each other’s services to create potential new revenue opportunities. The platform will also provide access to Deutsche Börse’s market and reference data

“We believe that this kind of partnership is the way forward in shaping the future of the financial industry,” said Marc Robert-Nicoud, CEO of Clearstream. “It brings together the know-how and innovation capacity of an established market infrastructure with the innovative models and flexibility of strong FinTech startups.”

Clearstream will contribute its IT infrastructure design and compliance operations, as well as various software components to run the API marketplace for Deutsche Börse which the FinTech Acceleration platform will be based on.

“We aim at building a very powerful service distribution platform and marketplace, serving both the traditional financial industry and the new generation players’ needs,” Finologee’s CEO and co-founder, Raoul Mulheims, added.

“For us, this is a logical evolution in our entrepreneurial journey, and also a unique opportunity to deploy our own apps and products.”
