Deutsche Bank has hired Quentin Thom as European head of Hedge Fund Consulting.

Thom will head up the Global Prime Finance (GPF) European Hedge Fund Consulting team, working for Anita Nemes, global head of capital introductions, and Danny Caplan, European head of Global Prime Finance.

Thom was previously a director at Kinetic Partners, a consultancy focusing on alternative investment management. He joined Kinetic from Amber Partners, the hedge fund operational certification firm where his role, as managing director, included business & product development, marketing and client servicing plus the delivery of operational certification and operational risk consulting services globally.

His appointment indicates a commitment to prime finance from the bank, part of the Corporate Banking & Securities (CB&S) division, notwithstanding a statement in April that the balance sheet intensive business may be trimmed down, in order to make way for investment in other parts.

As part of the strategic repositioning, the bank said it plans to invest over €1.5 billion in its Global Transaction Banking’s and Asset & Wealth Management franchises. On Tuesday, co-CEO John Cryan said details of the six key decisions taken in its Strategy 2020 announcement, including the investment in GTB and the deleveraging of CB&S, will be revealed at the end of October.
