John Morris, the former Midland and Citibank securities services chief who has long been one of the best-known faces on the London custody scene, has joined ABN AMRO Mellon to head ABN AMRO Mellon Trustee & Depositary Services from its UK branch. He joins from Citigroup, to direct ABN AMRO Mellon’s development of the trustee/depositary operating model and instigate ABN AMRO Mellon’s strategy to take the services to the market. “ABN AMRO Mellon is making great in-roads in the UK market and the establishment of a trustee/depositary capability is a major step forward in our development,” says Nadine Chakar, CEO of ABN AMRO Mellon. “This service model will enable us to provide a truly complete asset servicing solution for Unit Trusts and OEICs in the UK. I am delighted that John will be managing our progress. The depth of his understanding and experience in the market is unmatched and his guidance will undoubtedly prove invaluable.”

ABN AMRO Mellon Trustee & Depositary Services will be responsible for overseeing the activities of fund Managers, helping them to ensure that they are compliant with regulatory obligations and are working in the interests of the unit holder. Morris’s team will work closely with both ABN AMRO Mellon and Mellon European Fund Services to provide a full range of custody, fund administration and fiduciary services.

“ABN AMRO Mellon has established exceptional credibility in the market in such a relatively short period; the opportunity to take up the challenge to develop this important piece of ABN AMRO Mellon’s service model was too exciting an opportunity to forego. I am looking forward to immersing myself in this exhilarating role,” says Morris.
