Credit Suisse is intending to launch operations in Pakistan with an office in Karachi. The bank says the initial business focus will enhance its equity research coverage of Pakistani companies.

Credit Suisse has been active in the Pakistan financial markets since the early nineties through its offices in London, Singapore and Hong Kong, and currently covers over 50 Pakistan stocks through its proprietary valuation framework, HOLT.

“We believe that Pakistan represents a considerable opportunity and we are excited to have a presence there,” says Paul Calello, Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse, Asia Pacific. “The launch of our operations in Karachi underpins both our commitment to the region and our confidence in Pakistan’s future.”

“Credit Suisse is a world-class international financial institution,” adds Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. “Their decision to establish an onshore footprint in Pakistan reflects great confidence in our continued growth and development.”
