Cohen & Steers SICAV have launched their Asia Pacific Real Estate Securities Fund.

The fund is open to investors across national borders outside the United States and will initially be registered in Luxembourg and Germany. It invests in the common stocks of REITs and other publicly traded real estate companies in the Asia Pacific region that the firm believes have the most attractive valuations. This is the fourth fund to be launched under the Cohen & Steers SICAV.

“We have been running Asia Pacific strategies since 2003 and believe that real estate securities in this region are positioned for attractive long-term returns. Its economic growth has outstripped every other region in the world in recent years, including the U.S., and we expect that growth to continue. Historically, sustained economic growth has been accompanied by increased demand for real estate,” says Martin Cohen, co-chairman and co-chief executive officer of Cohen & Steers.

“Our team of analysts and traders in Hong Kong has extensive experience in these markets. This gives us, we believe, an important competitive advantage.” adds Robert Steers, co-chairman and co-chief executive officer.

Historically, Asia Pacific real estate securities have demonstrated low correlations to U.S. stocks and bonds and have the potential to provide attractive total returns. However, because of geographic concentration and other factors, volatility may be high.
