HSBC has appointed Cian Burke as head of Securities Services.

The appointment, which became effective on Sept. 1, coincides with the move of Drew Douglas to the U.S. where he is now regional head of Payments and Cash Management (PCM) for North America.

Burke and Douglas were appointed co-heads of HSS in 2010. HSBC says that since then they have de-risked HSBC’s product base, shifted focus to core group clients and streamlined operations while growing the underlying core revenue.

Burke will focus on continuing to grow and develop the HSS business while containing risk in a volatile market and changing regulatory environment.

Prior to becoming Co-Head of HSS Burke was head of Prime Services and also held roles in Global Markets and Audit during his 20 years with HSBC.
