Chang Zhenming, China Construction Bank’s vice chairman and president, says he will resign and return to Citic Group, the bank announced Sunday.
While the bank has not said what prompted Chang’s decision to leave, it alluded to his need to address “the needs of China’s financial development and reforms.”
CCB says it will announce Chang’s successor soon.
Chang’s departure marks the second top-level executive to resign in little under a year and the first since the bank’s initial public offering in October.
Just months before CCB’s Hong Kong offering, Zhang Enzhao, the bank’s chairman, resigned amid a probe into alleged corruption at the bank. Zhang was replaced by Guo Shuqing, who had been a central bank vice governor before moving to CCB.
There is no indication, however, that Chang had any involvement in and illegal activities.
