Northern Trust announced Monday that Robert Baillie will assume the roles of president and chief executive officer of The Northern Trust Company’s Canadian branch.

Baillie will also serve as chairman, president and chief executive officer of NT Global Advisors.

Based in Toronto, Baillie will be responsible for all of Northern Trust’s operations in the Canadian market.

Baillie joins Northern Trust from RBC Dexia Investor Services, where worked as head of asset servicing sales and client service.

At Northern Trust, Baillie succeeds Jeffrey Conover, who formerly held the two Canadian leadership positions over the past three years. Conover will return to Chicago at Northern Trust’s headquarters, following a transition period in the third quarter.

“Rob Baillie is a recognized leader in the Canadian institutional investment marketplace, and we are thrilled to have him join us,” says Stephen Potter, group head of Northern Trust’s international business segment. “Rob’s broad base of contacts among both pension funds and asset managers and his well-earned reputation for professionalism will help Northern Trust continue to build on the momentum we have achieved over the past few years in this strategically important market.”
