The Supervisory Board of CDC IXIS Asset Management, the Paris-based global investment management firm, has announced the appointment of a new Executive Board. Peter S. Voss has been named Chairman and will be joined on the Executive Board by Jean-Paul Marchetti and Jacques Ollivier. Voss will assume this role in replacement of Daniel Roy and will continue to oversee the group’s North America operations.
Since the acquisition of Nvest in 2000, Voss has co-managed CDC IXIS Asset Management with Daniel Roy and has played a major role in developing the firm’s strategy for long-term growth. His nomination represents a natural evolution in the group’s management structure and is reflective of the truly global character of the firm.
Joining Voss on the Executive Board will be Jean-Paul Marchetti and Jacques Ollivier, both highly experienced financial services industry professionals. Marchetti was formerly a member of the Executive Board and Head of Finance at CNP Assurances. Ollivier comes from Caisse des Depots where he was Director of Finance for the Direction des Fonds d’Epargne with responsibility for managing a portfolio of securities worth over 110 billion.
“I am confident in the ability of CDC IXIS Asset Management’s new management team to continue to implement the firm’s global strategy with a view to furthering its position as France’s leading asset manager,” said Anthony Orsatelli, Chairman of the Executive Board of CDC IXIS and member of the Executive Board of Caisse Nationale des Caisses d’Epargne, CDC IXIS’ shareholder alongside Caisse des Depots.
Voss commented, “As a federal organization, CDC IXIS Asset Management’s strength lies in its line-up of affiliated investment management firms, each with diverse investment styles and client bases. We offer a broad range of products across asset classes and will continue to draw upon the expertise of our affiliates to develop quality investment products and increase distribution in France, the U.S. and other select markets throughout Europe and the world.”
Voss joined Nvest in 1992 (later to become CDC IXIS Asset Management North America after its acquisition by CDC IXIS AM in 2000), with the mandate to organize and capitalize the value of investment firms owned at that time by New England Financial. Formerly, Voss was Group Executive Vice President of Bank of America, where he headed its U.S. and international investment management and private banking. Prior to that, he headed up the London-based merchant banking operations of Security Pacific Corporation and also served as Chief Executive Officer of Hoare Govett Companies, the corporation’s equity operation in Europe and Southeast Asia. He is currently Chief Executive of CDC IXIS Asset Management North America.
Marchetti is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and ‘Ecole nationale de la statistique et de l’administration conomique (ENSAE) [Higher National School for Statistics and Economic Administration] and became General Inspector at INSEE [National Institute for Statistic and Economic Studies]. Marchetti began his career in General Management at INSEE, before joining the Budget Department in 1978 where, in 1992, he became Head of Department, Assistant Director for Budget. He was then Executive Vice President and Financial Director for La Poste from July 1995 to July 1998, before joining CNP Assurances. Since July 1998, he has served as a member of the Management Board and head of the Finance Department of CNP Assurances
Ollivier is a graduate of Universit de Sciences Economiques d’Orlans and l’Institut Libre de Finances et d’Assurances de Paris. He began his career in 1975 in private banking at the Caisse Rgionale du Credit Mutuel before joining the Caisse Centrale du Credit Coopratif in 1979. Beginning in 1984, he served for six years as Head of Capital Markets at Caisse des Depots. After serving as Director of Financial Management at CDC-Gestion, a predecessor of CDC IXIS Asset Management, Ollivier became Director of Finance and a member of the Executive Board of the Socit d’Emissions et de Crdits, then of Caisse Centrale des Caisses d’Epargne when it was created in 1994.
