The Carlyle Group has hired Nader H Sultan as a senior advisor to the firm’s Middle East and North Africa team.
In his new role, Sultan will help identify investments, business opportunities and trends, particularly in the energy sector in the MENA region. “Nader’s experience gives him extraordinary insight into the rapidly evolving energy landscape in the MENA region,” says Walid Musallam, Carlyle managing director and head of Carlyle MENA Partners. “He will be a tremendous asset to our team and our fund as we expand and develop our energy investing discipline.”
Sultan added, “I look forward to working with Carlyle’s talented team of MENA investment professionals to help build their success as investors and operators in the energy sector.”
Sultan has worked for 33 years in the Kuwait oil industry, and was the deputy chairman and CEO of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
Carlyle currently has $85.5 billion of assets under management committed to 66 funds.
