CAMRA Data Services, a provider of asset management data to pension funds and consultants, announced it has formed a strategic alliance with InvestorForce, a leading US database provider.

This alliance has enabled CAMRA Data Services to enhance the technology and functionality of its database. In addition, users of the CAMRA database will now be able to access the leading online database of hedge fund products, managers and data, Altvest, which is owned by InvestorForce.

Steve Butler, Director of CAMRA Data Services, comments:

“We are constantly seeking new technologies to develop and improve the functionality of our database for both consultants and asset managers. Research has revealed how time consuming and expensive it can be for asset managers to respond to RFPs and provide information without duplication to consultants,” said Steve Butler, Director of CAMRA Data Services.

“We have developed this database to help asset managers manage their data input more efficiently to reduce costs and ultimately enhance their distribution opportunities. For pension funds and consultants too we are constantly looking to improve the data sources available and our alliance with InvestorForce reflects our commitment to this,” Butler said.

CAMRA Data Services enhanced its database in response to recent research, which reveals that asset managers have seen a 70% increase in data requests in the last three years. Those enhancements include a facility for asset managers to catalogue their product list without the need to continuously supply an updated set of data, saving them time and money, a spokesman for CAMRA said. This feature ensures that their product appears in all relevant searches carried out on the system, allowing consultants to be able to request any further information that they might require, the company said.

Furthermore, many administrative tasks associated with database completion have now been automated, considerably reducing the time it takes for asset managers to participate in the database, it said.

Altvest provides data on more than 2,700 active hedge fund products and over 1,200 active hedge fund managers. In addition, users can access 156 indices and 24 screening criteria.
