Barclays Global Investors has appointed Markus Hubscher as Country Head of Switzerland.

Hubscher, who will be based in Zurich, will lead BGI’s penetration of the Swiss institutional investment market, focusing on pension funds, universal banks, insurance, private banks and wealth managers, and specialist multi-managers.

“This is a key strategic hire and will give additional focus to these key client segments, a core part of BGI’s strategy of further building out our European business,” says Nigel Williams, Chief Executive Officer for BGI Europe and Asia.

Hubscher brings 20 years of investment management, business and product development experience. He was most recently head of Index Products at the Asset Management Division of Credit Suisse where he was responsible for the oversight of the management of index and enhanced index accounts for institutional investors as well as Credit Suisse’s Exchange Traded Funds (XMTCH).
