AMPs founder and managing director of Multiport, John McIlroy, will leave the firm in June and Libby Roy will transition into the role of interim managing director from 16 April.

Multiport is a self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) and managed account provider with more than AU$2bn in funds under administration, was purchased by AXA Australia in 2009 and became part of the AMP Group following the AMP/AXA merger last year.

Roy comes to AMP from ipac, where she was general manager of financial planning with responsibility for ipacs in-house and equity partner network of approximately 150 advisers with more than AU$5bn in funds under advice

John has been a driving force in the development of the SMSF market in Australia, with Multiport now a pre-eminent SMSF provider with more than AU$2bn in funds under administration and with an increasing presence in the managed accounts area, said Rob Caprioli, AMPs director of banking and wealth management products. We thank John for his significant contribution and we welcome Libby with her extensive business experience to this role.

Meanwhile, AMP Capital has appointed David Rees as co-head of asset management to the London-based European infrastructure team. Rees will have joint responsibility with Rob Verrion for the long-term performance of AMP Capitals European infrastructure assets.

Rees, who has 25 years experience working in infrastructure business, comes to AMP Capital from National Grid, the international network energy company, where he was director of finance and regulation at Transco, the UK gas transmission and distribution business. He was also chairman of trustees and a member of the investment committee of National Grids UK Pension Scheme. Previously, Rees was director of corporate finance and economic affairs and a member of the executive committee at OFWAT, the UK water regulator.
