FIX Protocol Limited (FPL) says Alasdair Haynes of ITG has been elected as Co-Chairman of the FPL EMEA Regional Committee. Haynes will be working alongside Barry Marshall, who has served in this position since January 2004.

Alasdair Haynes is currently the Chief Executive Officer of ITG in Europeand Head of its international operations. Since joining the organisation in 1998 he has spearheaded ITG’s expansion into Europe. Prior to his current tenure at ITG, Haynes spent time at Bankers Trust, at UBS, and was Head of Global Equity Derivatives at HSBC James Capel.

“Over the last decade, I have been working at the cutting edge of technology in the broking industry,” says Haynes. “I have seen at first hand how IT can transform businesses for the better by increasing efficiency and improving returns. I strongly believe in the work of FIX and I am delighted to have been granted the opportunity to co-chair the EMEA Regional Committee. Within this position I hope to add value and leadership, using my experience to further aid the development and promotion of the FIXProtocol”.

“FIX is a major catalyst transforming the strategic landscape of the financial services industry,” says Barry Marshall. “FIX should be firmly on the Chief Executive’s agenda. Yet, in the multiplicity of debates and articles on electronic trading, FIX as the progenitor of the massive increase in trading volumes is often taken for granted. Alasdair has been an outstanding advocate for the increased use of technology in our industry and a champion for the cause of electronic trading. We welcome Alasdair to his leadership role with in the not-for-profit FIX family and I personally look forward to working with Alasdair in articulating the essential role of FIX within the EMEA region. In welcoming Alasdair, I also warmly thank his predecessor Eli Lederman of Morgan Stanley, both for his great work on behalf of FIX and personally for his support. We look forward to Eli’s continuing involvement within FIX.”
