RBC Dexia announces the launch of a series of SWIFT enhancements that will streamline and simplify the distribution of corporate entitlement information. These changes will become effective on September 11, 2006.

Complex corporate events require detailed information. System capabilities have been enhanced to provide three times more information on an MT564. An MT568 will only be issued if the character limit on the MT564 is exceeded. There will be the benefit of more information, yet fewer messages.

From a technical perspective, MT564 messages will be revised as follows:

Sequence D: The qualifier ADTX field in Sequence D will be discontinued, unless the event type equals “OTHR”. The qualifier COMP field in Sequence D (Restrictions) may be repeated up to three times to accommodate text.

Sequence F: The qualifier ADTX field in Sequence F will be retained and may be repeated up to 20 times to accommodate text. If the character limit on the MT564 is exceeded, an MT568 will be issued. The qualifier INCO will allow for multiple occurrences of “information conditions” to accommodate text. The qualifier PACO will continue to include contact information.

In preparation for the annual mandatory SWIFT enhancements in November, 2006, RBC Dexia will begin to use numeric options on voluntary corporate events, instead of alpha options. This change will be implemented in a two-phased approach, beginning September 11, 2006. For events having nine options or less, numeric option numbers will be used. For events having more than nine options, alpha options will continue to be used until the mandatory SWIFT changes are implemented in November.
