David Cheng has joined the Credit Suisse as managing director and head of Corporate Finance, Greater China.

In addition, Quincy Hui has joined as managing director for Hong Kong Coverage. Both new hires are based in Hong Kong for the Investment Banking Department.

Cheng will oversee the corporate finance team for Credit Suisse’s Greater China business. He will report to Paul Raphael, head of Investment Banking for Asia Pacific, ex-Japan.

Cheng joins Credit Suisse from Bear Stearns, where he was appointed senior managing director and head of Corporate Finance in Asia in 2005. Prior to that, he was managing director and head of Investment Banking at CITIC Capital and Bank of China International. He has also worked for ING Bank as managing director and head of Greater China Execution of the Investment Banking Division.

Hui will play a key role in developing relationships and originating and executing transactions for the Bank’s Hong Kong based clients. Hui will report to Chester Kwok, head of Hong Kong Coverage and co-head of Real Estate Investment Banking. Hui joins Credit Suisse from Deutsche Bank, where he was managing director and head of Hong Kong Investment Banking.

“David and Quincy’s expertise and track record strengthen Credit Suisse’s investment banking franchise in Asia. Their hiring underlines our commitment to deepening our talent pool irrespective of market cycles,” says Raphael.

Credit Suisse ranked second in Asia excluding Japan in terms of investment-banking revenue in the first quarter 2008, according to data provider Dealogic.

Cheng holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from University of Salford, UK. He is also a chartered accountant and chartered financial analyst.

A solicitor by training, Hui has worked for Linklaters in Hong Kong and Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Australia.
