Iain Stokes has joined London-based corporate finance firm Wyvern Partners as it establishes a presence in Guernsey.

Stokes joins Wyvern to provide additional expertise in the fund administration area. In his early career he worked in audit and advisory for BDO in Guernsey where he qualified as an accountant and subsequently spent seven years with Guernsey International Fund Managers (GIFM), part of Barings, before joining Mourant International Finance Administration (MIFA) in 2003 as head of its Guernsey office.

In 2008 he became Group Managing Director with responsibility for MIFA’s expanding office network covering North America, Europe and Asia and was a member of the senior team that managed the sale of MIFA to State Street (which completed in April 2010). Stokes left State Street in June 2012 to pursue a career as a consultant. He holds a range of non-executive directorships on fund management and fund investment companies focused on alternative asset strategies.

Jonathan Smith, director of Wyvern Partners and Head of the Trust and Fund Administration practice, said: “The recruitment of Iain as a special adviser demonstrates the commitment of Wyvern to developing our operations in the offshore space and the Channel Islands in particular.”
