A new survey by Adecco reveals that workers in the business services sector are ‘Job Flirts’. Despite claiming to be motivated and content in their current position, Business Services staff are always on the look out for the next opportunity.
The Work IN Progress: Jobseekers survey, published today, surveyed over 1000 UK workers across the UK to explore the extent to which employees are committed and engaged in their job and the current level of job-hunting activity amongst these employees. The key Business Services findings were:
Despite 81 percent believing they will be in the same job in 12 months from now, 61 percent of Business Services employees surveyed have applied for a job or registered with a recruitment agency in the past 12 months.
The Internet has become the number one search tool for jobseekers with 71 percent preferring to use the job sections of company websites and adverts in national and local papers to search for new positions.
Six out of ten workers think they are responsible for motivating themselves to make their jobs more satisfying.
Over one third (36 percent) believe it is harder to get a better job now than three years ago.
Strong links are revealed between levels of employer commitment to nature of job, working environment and job stability and the engagement levels of employees.
“We are seeing a high number of Business Services workers taking an ‘always on the look out’ approach to job hunting,” says Steven Kirkpatrick, the managing director of Adecco. “In an increasingly competitive market, employees are aware that whilst they may feel content and motivated in their current position, it is important to keep new opportunities on the radar.”
