Wiener Boerse AG, the Vienna stock exchange, has amended its trading rules to allow the exchange to suspend short selling, in addition to suspending trading if a price drops more than 10%.
The changes, made in accordance with the Financial Market Authority, allow Wiener Boerse to suspend trading in specific securities for a limited period or until further notice if the price changes more than 10% and allows short selling in one or more securities to be suspended with immediate effect for a limited period or until further notice.
Both rules take effect immediately.
The move follows the exchange suspending trading earlier after shared faced looming price losses.
