The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) – a hedge fund and alternative investment industry association – has appointed Matthew Jones as manager to its regulatory and legal team.

Jones will report to Mary Richardson, AIMA’s Director of regulatory and legal. He will provide support to his colleagues, industry and regulatory authorities in all regulatory, legal and tax matters that affect the hedge fund and related industries.

Since 1999, Jones has been an attorney at Simmons & Simmons in London, specialising in FSA regulatory matters and the broad asset management sector.

He was previously a partner in the litigation department at Gaby Hardwicke Yearwood & Griffiths. Jones also spent time as an associate solicitor, litigation at Coffin Mew and Clover, having started his career back at Simmons & Simmons in 1991.

“Matthew’s appointment enhances AIMA’s capacity in the regulatory field and its commitment to members in this area,” Florence Lombard, executive director at AIMA said. “There is a common will shared by the hedge fund industry and regulators to work together to optimise the investment environment for investors.”
