Trip to Chair ING But Gloystein Quits

Diederik Laman Trip (55) will be appointed Chairman of the Management Committee Netherlands as of 1 January 2003. Laman Trip has been a Member of the Executive Committee ING Europe since 1 January 2000 and is currently responsible for Retail and Commercial Financial Services in Europe. From 1996 till the end of 1999 Diederik Laman Trip was Chairman of Postbank. He has been working for ING and its predecessors for more than 20 years.

Laman Trip will succeed Durk Brands (60), who will retire on 1 January 2003 as member of the Executive Committee Europe and as Chairman of the Management Committee Netherlands. Durk Brands started his career in 1967 with RVS and was Chairman of RVS and Nationale-Nederlanden. During the last 10 years he was member and Chairman of the Management Committee Netherlands. ING thanks him for his enormous contribution to the Groups results.

In a separate development, Peter Gloystein, a member of the Executive Committee ING Europe, has decided to leave ING at the end of August 2002. By mutual agreement, Mr. Gloystein is leaving because of a difference in opinion about the future strategy.

Within the Executive Committee Europe, Mr. Gloystein was as CEO responsible for ING BHF-Bank. He joined ING in 1999 following the acquisition of BHF-Bank. Before that, he had senior management positions at several German banks.

Mr. Gloystein will be succeeded by Mr. Sytse Andringa. At this moment, Mr. Andringa is member of the Executive Board of ING BHF-Bank and Chief Financial and Risk Officer. Mr. Andringa has a long standing career in various functions at ING in the Netherlands and Belgium.
