Tri-party repo veteran Godfried de Vidts to leave NEX

De Vidts, who has served in the financial markets since 1972, was one of the pioneers of the international and tri-party markets in the mid-1990s.

Godfried de Vidts, a tri-party repo veteran and GC Legend, will depart from technology and post-trade vendor NEX, Global Custodian understands.

De Vidts, who has served in the financial markets since 1972, was one of the pioneers of the international and tri-party markets in the mid-1990s.

During his time at NEX (formerly ICAP), he advised on European financial and political issues as a director for European affairs, and helped establish a relationship with the European Commission and Parliament.

Prior to joining ICAP in 2006, he spent nearly 20 years at Fortis bank and served a number of senior roles, where he led its global liquidity and collateral management business.

De Vidts was also included into the GC Hall of Fame in 2013 for his work on the front-line of the repo market.

De Vidts will continue serving as the chairman of the ICMA European Repo and Collateral Council (ERCC), Global Custodian understands.
