Tremont Capital Management, a manager of fund of hedge fund portfolios, has appointed Susan Crotty as managing director of Investment Management Services.

Crotty will work both with the Sales and Marketing team and the Investment Management group to help design solutions for clients, globally, using Tremonts products and services. Her role will include working on specialty mandates and customised approaches which have become of increasing importance to institutional investors.

“Sues extensive experience consulting to a wide variety of institutions on fund of hedge fund investing, her understanding of what investors are seeking to accomplish with their alternatives strategy, and her knowledge of our industry delivers tremendous benefits to our clients,” says Rupert Allan, President and CEO, Tremont.

Crotty was formerly senior vice president, Alternatives Practice Leader, at Callan Associates. Prior to her tenure at Callan, she was a managing director at Ark Asset Management and a senior consultant at Hamilton & Company. She is also a member of the Investment Committee for the State of New Jersey Pension System. Crotty will report to Robert Stone, executive vice president and global head of Sales.

“Tremont is known for its leadership role in the industry and is strategically poised to deliver what the institutional marketplace needs and wants today. Im excited to become part of an outstanding management team thats clearly focused on some exciting opportunities,” says Crotty.

Crottys appointment to this newly created position further strengthens the senior executive ranks at Tremont. Last October, Tremont hired Robert Stone to direct the global sales effort. He was formerly managing director and head of Institutional Global Sales at New York Life Investment Management where he created the institutional sales organisation and significantly increased asset growth through a variety of channels.

Also in 2007, Tremont appointed Mark Santero to the position of COO responsible for Tremonts global operations in North America, Europe and Asia. Santero functioned in a similar role at Ivy Asset Management and held positions prior to that at Amvescap and US Trust.

Crotty will work closely with Tremonts Investment Management group, led by Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer Cynthia Nicoll. The investment group, with 22 professionals, has developed significantly under Nicolls leadership since 2005, and continues to add further resources, with a number of new hires planned for the coming months.

Tremonts series of senior appointments is part of a growth and development strategy put in place last year when Allan, then the firms President, also assumed the role of CEO.

“We set out to scale our operations as we grow fund of hedge fund assets, expand our global footprint and deliver excellence in investment management. We have taken some very exciting steps to insure that we have the right senior team in place to achieve those goals,” says Allan.
